All that live FROW action can give a girl go giddy. So we’ve sifted through our top trend ideas and musings to bring you a 13 step idiot-proof guide to what’s going to be hot next season. That is, of course, depending on whether we can even wait that long…
1. The designer we’ll all be fighting over when A/W’12 drops in store… McQ and its new cool (and very McQueen mainline) look. Sarah Burton did a sterling job with not only the collection but the mega catwalk show that left the fash packing weeping happy tears.
2. Owls are the new leopard, or snakeskin… There’s always one animal that inspires a season and after the bird prints of spring and last year’s obsession with slithery snakeskin and coloured leopard makes way for the barn owl. Kate Bosworth couldn’t wait to wear her Burberry owl sweatshirt. Cute!
3. You’ll be buying some puffy and it’ll probably be cropped… It’s the new jacket shape of the season according to Peter Pilotto, Marios Schwab and Burberry Prorsum. And cosy, too.
4. Thick belts are back, and they mean business… Acne confirmed it!
5. Military is DEFINITELY in. It was a huge runway look for New York’s finest shows, but we’ve got loads of it to come in London. Joseph, Topshop Unique and McQ all paraded the look.
6. Azaelia Banks is bloody cool. Especially with that My Little Pony pink hair. She had the fashion crowd eating out of the palm of her hands at the Topshop NEWGEN party at hip fashion hangout, Le Baron, on the last night of LFW. It was AWESOME!

7. The Shoe Debate Stomps On… Ladylike or clunky? Knee boots or ankle? Chic or bonkers? Oh the decisions are endless, but our two faves were Nicholas Kirkwood’s pointy tromp l’oeil heels at Peter Pilotto and Louise Gray’s fun-tastic patent Pollini boots (also designed by monsieur Kirkwood).

8. It’s a minimalist vs. maximalist world out there. Some of London’s fashion players (espesh the newbies like J. JS Lee) kept things sleek and simple but the more-is-more approach is never far away with the brilliant creativity of MeadhamKirchoff and Mary Katrantzou on the schedule.
9. Covering up is still the new sexy. Kelly Brook may have been all heaving bosom on the Giles FROW, but not a single one of his models (well, bar a bandeau number) showed any décolletage at all. It’s time to cover up, ladies!
10. We just can’t hear one more repeat play of Lana Del Rey’s Video Games. We love the little lady, but whoever is being hired for fashion week soundtracks needs to give it a break. However, we are excited about Lana’s namesake Mulberry bag, now THAT will enjoy repeat performances from both Miss Del Rey and ourselves.
11. Ponytails rule, ok? All of the coolest catwalks styled their girls up with ponies.
12. Don’t throw away your peplums. Burberry, Antonio Berardi and Simone Rocha all still say it’s ok!
13. And finally, we’ll have a chunky jumper in red, please. Christopher Kane, Jonathan Saunders and J.W. Anderson all made very nice ones indeed.
