New York Fashion Week run down

New York Fashion Week is hailed as the Mecca of modern classics. Time-honoured American designers from Carolina Herrera to Ralph Lauren combine exquisite tailoring with modern day fun and frivolity.

The opening day of New York Fashion Week brings us a string of designers who have mastered the creation of effortless cool. Nicholas K starts the proceedings, offering up his take on feminine grunge, whilst Honor is set to stun us with yet another season of superbly structured garments and mismatched androgynous pieces.

For those of us with a softer palette, the fabulous Tadashi Soji is sure to ignite fashion senses once again through his electrifying use of fresh colours and gorgeously girly cuts.

Friday brings us a true taste of modern creativity. Parkchoonmoo never fails to provide minimalism with a unique twist, whilst the big name of the day will be Tommy Hilfiger, the King of classic American design, who is expected to play host to New York’s finest social set.

Saturday, is quite possibly the most exciting day of the week. Gracing the catwalk will be Lacoste's clean and vibrant styles, Jill Stuart's edgy yet feminine pieces and Hervé Léger's instantly recognisable and immensely popular signature look.

Presenting a blend of punk attitude and  graphics, Pop star turned style icon Gwen Stefani will be showing her clothing line L.A.M.B and if last season's line is anything to go by, this is one show not to be missed.

Following on Sunday will be Lorena Sarbu's show stopping gowns and Fashion mogul Diane von Furstenberg with another dose of femininity for the future season.

Monday's shows call for the power houses Carolina Herrera, Donna Karan and Betsey Johnson to send models down the runway in bursts of colour blocks and voluminous shapes.

Tuesday is set for bridal Queen Vera Wang, and last season’s red carpet must have Narciso Rodriguez.

To complete this pap-snapping week in the city, New York Fashion Week ends on a high with IT girl and fashion darling Whitney Port, Michael Kors, Anna Sui plus, Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein take center stage for the ultimate fashion week climax.
