With names like Flower Market, Beach Walk and Fun Fair Evening, you know that the new Replica fragrance collection from Maison Martin Margiela will bottle the smells of summer.
Produced to “immediately evoke a recollection”, the new range is only the second dalliance into fragrance for Maison Martin Margiela, who released their debut scent, Untitled, in 2010.
Flower Market is inspired by freshly cut flowers, wet petals, leaves crushed and buckets of water. It has the freshness of just cut stems with transparent notes of freesia, Grasse rose petals, jasmine and tuberose.
The second scent, Beach Walk, is intended to remind you of a summer’s day stroll along the ocean with your feet sinking into the sand. With bergamont, lemon and pink pepper, mixed with ylang ylang and coconut milk - it has a hint of the salty sea.
Finally, the candy sweet Fun Fair Evening embodies neon colours, playful melodies and the laughter of the fair. It combines apple, star anise and marshmellow with caramel and orange blossom. The sweet notes of this has been contrasted with the more musky and amber scents for balance.
Beautifully packaged in classic apothecary jars with cotton labels, resembling tags used on clothes.
The Replica fragrances will launch in July, and will be sold exclusively at Selfridges and Maison Martin Margiela boutiques.
We feel more summery already!
