Mesh body bags, hama bead glasses and pom pom onesies: Graduate Fashion Week 2013 could be most outlandish runway yet

Graduate Fashion Week 2013: Shih Chien Taiwan and Imogen Stubbs' weird and wonderful creations make for a showstopping day two

Graduate Fashion Week 2013 may have only just kicked off, but judging by some of the outlandish designs we've seen hit the catwalk so far - it's going to be a big year for emerging new talent.

The four-day event, which showcases the best emerging fashion designers, wowed the FROW crowd today with the International Show that was full-to-bursting with bizarre and out-there looks.

From onesies made entirely of multi-coloured pom poms, to grey mesh 'body bags' and even glasses made of Hama beads - the show was a non-stop spectacle of funky and fresh ideas.

The Shih Chien Taiwan show drew gasps from the FROW at Earl's Court, where models hit the runway in a sea of colour-pop printed looks that made us think of children's TV characters.

One male model walked carrying a seat belt, which at a certain angle looked like a tale attached to his monster-like printed onesie, decorated with birds, roses and jagged teeth.

It was hard to ignore the model in the pom pom suit, who carted a mirror ball as he strutted down the catwalk in the creation.

Ninjas even made a feature on the runway, with one model looking decidedly Mission Impossible as he strutted out in an all-black military-inspired get up.

The Instituto Marangoni Paris show was another must-see, with models looking as though they'd been dressed in body bags as they stepped out in cocoon-like creations.

We're guessing the sheer material allowed them to see where they were going, as only a sheer panel on their forehead was visible as they debuted the printed and cut-out pieces.

One of our highlights came from the Imogen Stubbs show, who sent models down the runway in block-coloured muted pieces in sheer and floaty fabrics.

From white bandeau dresses with a black band at the top to a chic black jumpsuit with bust detailing, the looks would have been a world away from the weird and wonderful seen elsewhere on the runway - bar one minor detail.

All the models for Imogen Stubbs donned hama bead glasses for their walks, reminding us of a) being kids again and b) adding a modern-techno vibe to the looks.

Graduate Fashion Week 2013 kicked off with a bang yesterday and judging by today's offerings, looks set to continue in the same vein right up until it's close on Wednesday.
