Little Mix: Our more mature style reflects our new album - EXCLUSIVE

The X Factor alumni reveal why their fashion choices have taken quite a turn in recent months

They’ve had something of a style transformation in recent months.

For Little Mix, it’s out with the garish, comic-print looks and in with sleeker, more demure outfits.

According to Jade - part of the group that won The X Factor in 2011 - they're developing a more mature identity ahead of the release of their second album out later this year.

“I just think we’re normal girls and we are progressing,” said the 20-year-old from South Shields.

“Especially with the new album that we’re bringing out, it’s a bit more mature, a bit more R&B, a bit cooler, so it’s all sort of happening together really.”

Bandmate Perrie Edwards – engaged to One Direction’s Zayn Malik - agrees that the group feel more mature following their attempt to crack the States in recent months.

“We’re at that age where we’re growing up a bit now,” she told us at the launch of the band’s new Collection make-up range.

Essex-born Jesy Nelson took a less serious stance on things, saying she finds it fun to try different outfits but admits to making some fashion faux pas in the past.

“There’s so many things we’ve worn in the past that we look back on and think ‘I’d never wear that now!’” said the 22-year-old star.

“We’re always trying out new things and changing it up a bit. It’s just fun, isn’t it? That’s what fashion’s about.”

The band have received some harsh criticism since The X Factor for their matchy-matchy outfits, but Jesy said she doesn’t care what people think and she only dresses for herself.

“To be honest, I don’t really care what people think about my clothes,” she told Yahoo Lifestyle.

“If I like them then that’s all that matters to be honest. I don’t dress for other people, I dress for myself.”
