There’s a brand new trend in town and it sure is making us nostalgic. Everywhere that we look people are working the eighties tossed-over-the-shoulder long bob, or lob as we fondly refer to it at Grazia HQ.
From J Lo, who caused a stir when she was spotted sporting a short, sexy, wayward version of it out and about in Chile last week, to Olivia Munn who worked a sexy sweep at ‘The Newsroom’ premiere in Hollywood on Wednesday, and the gorgeous Kristen Stewart and Kate Bosworth who both swept their hair side-wards in the style of Kelly Kapowski (come on, you remember the babe in Saved by the Bell), everyone is giving is a go. Even our Cheryl Cole sported a pumped up and voluminous version of the on trend “do” over the weekend.
Thankfully though, these ladies have also tossed aside that eighties (and not not very cool), over hair-sprayed and consequently crunchy texture too. Instead of hard-as-nails helmet hair their stylists have gone for soft, messy, textured tresses that are bursting with movement and vitality, bringing this eighties throwback a much needed modern touch. It’s a significant upgrade, we think!
Be sure to bear in mind that the best way to wear this look is without a definitive parting. "Hair with no particular part looks softer and more feminine," says hairstylist to the stars Ken O'Rourke. "When the scalp isn't visible, hair appears fuller." Want in? Get the look by deep conditioning tresses with a product like Aussie’s 3 Minute Miracle, £3.99 before blow drying a small quantity of a volumising mousse like Umberto Giannini Incredible Body Mousse, £5.49 into roots. Next tong irregular sections of hair with a wide barelled tong before shaking those curls out and tossing them over that shoulder. We love!
