Kids in movie inspired costumes

The cutest thing you’ll see today

Back in the day, there was a belief that small children should be dressed in small children clothes, perhaps from Mothercare or M&S or somewhere equally sensible. Now? Well now we’ve had the realisation that it is MUCH more fun to dress them up as funny characters and then take a lot of pictures of them. It works for Halloween, but hey - it also livens up a quiet weekend.

We pay homage to the cutest of all of these with our round-up of cute kids dressed as characters from films...

Minion from Despicable Me

Comes with bonus banana, and is almost definitely the cutest on the list...

Carl Fredricksen from Up

No wait, this guy’s the cutest on the list, on the basis that there is little that’s ever made our ovaries creak as much as a small child dressed as a grumpy old man, complete with bow tie and glasses.

Chewbacca and Princess Leia from Star Wars

Oh gawd, now we may have to take it back and make THESE GUYS the cutest on the list. Our general interest level on 'Star Wars' rests around the zero interest mark, but this picture of a mini Chewbacca and a mini Princess Leia is so cute that we’ve amended things. Hell, we might even watch the films.

The Oompa Loompas from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory

The only time it’s ok to slather a load of St Tropez’ darkest shade of fake tan on your children? When you’re styling them up as Oompa Loompas, obviously.

Syndrome from The Incredibles

And the only time you’re allowed to apply a large amount of black eyeliner to your children’s faces? When you’re drawing on a fake mask. Beauty products really come into their own with children’s fancy dress, don’t they?

Audrey Hepburn from Breakfast at Tiffanys

Why stop at raiding your make-up bag? Your jewellery box and accessories drawer may also hold the key to turning your child into the official winner at the fancy dress party too.

Tinkerbell from Peter Pan

It’s too much, isn’t it? It’s just too much.

Clark Kent from Superman

If you have a small, male child, don’t wait for Halloween - you want to do this now because it’s too good to wait a year for.

Cruella De Vil from The Hundred And One Dalmatians

Once again the make-up bag comes into its own, but we are mainly fascinated by how you make tights with different colour legs.

Slimer from Ghostbusters

For once, and once only, we actually mean it when we say we ain’t afraid of no ghost.

Edward Scissorhands

Erm, we’re a LITTLE afraid of this guy though…
