Kate Middleton adds some sparkle to recycled Jenny Packham dress with jewels borrowed from the Queen

The Duchess of Cambridge looked glowing at her first public appearance of 2014 at the National Portrait Gallery in central London

She’s been under the radar for the first part of the year – holidaying with six-month-old son, Prince George of Cambridge.

But Kate Middleton returned to the spotlight in style last night as she made her first public appearance for the The Portrait Gala 2014 at the National Portrait Gallery in central London.

The Duchess of Cambridge was the picture of perfection in a teal green gown by British designer Jenny Packham.

The 32-year-old’s dress featured a V-shaped neckline and delicate, sheer sleeves that flaunted her golden tan from her recent holiday in Mustique in the Caribbean.

Kate’s frock cinched in just below the bust and the lower half of the dress fell beautifully onto the floor as she stepped out of her car.

But the focal point of Catherine’s gorgeous outfit was the necklace she was wearing that was on loan from Queen Elizabeth II.

The dazzling jewels were giving to the Queen as a gift for her wedding in 1947 – and we have to sayPrince William's wife wore them VERY well last night.

But it’s not the first time Kate has worn this specific Jenny Packham gown before – as she stepped out in it for the Action on Addiction charity gala in October 2013.

The Reading-born beauty styled the dress in a similar way before – opting for a chic bracelet instead of a necklace as she did last night.

Glossy curled tresses, her signature smokey eyes and a slick of nude-coloured lipgloss completed her beauty look for the evening.

Perfection!
