Isabel Marant for H&M: Five things we've learnt from the first picture

Designer Isabel Marant has tweeted a first look at her upcoming H&M collection, here are five things we've picked up from it

Isabel Marant's eagerly-awaited collection for H&M might not launch until November 14, but she's well aware that's a wait too long for her devoted fashion fans.

So the eponymous designer has done the decent thing and taken to Twitter to reveal a first look at the collection, a move that will do nothing but grow the inevitable queue outside stores come launch date.

The French fashion designer revealed a snap of her modelling a piece from her collection in the mirror, looking very much like she was playing with the drop and feel of the fabric after designing the piece.

Showing off the navy and white drop waisted shift dress, Marant teamed the look with suede tasselled ankle boots - which if they don't make it into the collection, may cause us to shed a tear.

But while Isabel Marant, whose designer collections are famed for their laidback luxe appeal, only teased fashion fans with one look from the collection - we've garnered rather a lot from it.

In fact, we feel we've learnt five VERY important facts about Isabel Marant's upcoming launch on the great British high street (yes, we really can get all that from just one picture).

So to keep you going from now until November - bear in mind that's just four months people(!) - here's what we've discovered:

1. Drop-waists and floaty looks will be IN, perfect for the season of hibernation
Thanks to this sneak peek, we can see Isabel Marant isn't about to do a U-turn on her trademark boho, eclectic style for skintight fabrics. We're anticipating a collection full to bursting with easy-to-wear silhouettes; such as this flattering drop waisted shift. Teamed with bare legs or tights, we're already ear-marking this particularly look as one of our AW13 must-haves.

2. Prints are still in for AW13, woohoo!

There's nothing we love more than a trend that's flattering and one that goes the distance through the seasons. And as if you ever needed a sign that prints aren't going anywhere fast for next season, then look no further. As the designer herself reveals, abstract prints that can be smart or casual and hide a multitude of sins (should we so need them to) are still BIG news later this year.

3. Marant may have designed some of her trademark ankle boots

We hate to speculate, but one of THE most super-exciting things about this first picture is Marant's tasselled ankle boots. HELLO the perfect work-to-bar shoe for winter '13, please let you feature in the drop.

4. Tiered hemlines just got wearable

Remember when tiered hemlines, such as the waterfall, were everywhere and you didn't have a clue how to wear them? Well, they just got a lot more wearable - and stylish too, we might add. We spied a slight tiering in the hemline on Marant's dress and it contains none of the horrors of those drastic ones.

5. Our fave autumnal colours look present and correct
While we're huge fans of all things colour - we've embraced everything from colour-pop, to pastels to block colouring with open arms - we're pleased to see we can look forward to darker shades come autumn. Judging by this navy and white printed shift, we'll all be stepping out in rich hues just in time for the snow to hit. Perfect.
