Katie Hopkins refuses to back down after class row with Holly Willoughby on This Morning

Former Apprentice star sparked controversy after admitting she judges children by their names – and doesn’t let her own play with kids called Tyler or Charmaine

Former Apprentice star Katie Hopkins has defended her comments about judging children by their names on This Morning.

The businesswoman sparked huge controversy when she told Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield that she doesn’t let her children play with anyone called Tyler or Chardonnay.

The mum-of-three appeared on the daytime chat show after a Netmums survey revealed people judge kids by their name.

But the interview erupted into chaos after it seemed Holly got personally offended by Katie’s comments.

The 38-year-old former TV star admitted she judged schoolkids by their names and refused to let her children play with anyone named after a geographical location.

Confusingly, Katie’s first daughter is called India – a point which baffled host Philip Schofield.

But it was her comments that she doesn’t understand why people would name a child before it’s been born that rifled Holly, saying what if a child that you have named Bella for example 'is ugly'.

This clearly infuriated the 32-year-old whose daughter is called Belle – with the presenter telling Katie to ‘stop it right there.’

The This Morning interview caused huge controversy on social networking sites, with author Caitlin Moran just one of the celebs to slam Katie.

But Katie is refusing to back down and wrote this morning ‘A child's name is the first impression you have. That impression is usually supported by the mother standing behind it.’
