Harry Styles working with Snow Patrol

Harry Styles looks set to take One Direction to another level by collaborating with rockers Snow Patrol in the studio.

He may be in the biggest boyband in the world, but now it seems Hazza wants to spread his wings a little - so he's teaming up with the alternative group's frontman Gary Lightbody to write some new tracks.

But before all you frantic 1D fans have a meltdown, don't worry: Harry's not planning to do a Robbie Williams and go solo!

A source in the lads' camp says, "One Direction always work solo with writers and are doing the same for the new album.

"It saves time, which is so precious for a band under their pressures. The tracks Harry worked on with Gary are 100 per cent for the new One Direction album - and not a solo album."

Gary definitely seems impressed with Harry's ideas, telling The Sun, "We wrote with Harry. It was a lot of fun. He's a real dude actually. We've no idea if those songs will make it (on to the next album) yet, though.

"It's a long process. It's great to work with other people - it's good to flex the muscle."

To seal his rock star credentials, Harry's even been spotted shopping for a new musical instrument at London's New Kings Road Vintage Guitar Emporium.

Just a few more tattoos to go, Harry, and you'll be that much closer to your rock god dream!
