H&M underestimates Isabel Marant popularity, disappoints customers

US customers who flocked online to buy the new Isabel Marant designs from fashion retailer H&M suffer cancelled online orders and no replacements

Despite all the excitement surrounding H&M's collaboration with fashion designer Isabel Marant, it seems the retailer itself was completely unprepared for the huge demand the range would attract.

Judging by tweets to the @hm_custserv account, many shoppers have been frustrated by the service and annoyed to discover clothes they purchased online have been cancelled and refunded because they're sold out.

The biggest problems have occured on the new US retail site - which launched with the Isabel Marant collection to allow American users to buy clothes from the Swedish brand.

Shoppers have been particularly irate because the purchases they've made appear to go through, the money is taken from credit cards and it's not until a few days later that they receive an email explaining the item they thought they'd bought is actually out of stock and all they can be offered is a refund.

Caitlyn Carpanzano, 27, from New York, complained to the MailOnline, saying that one of the four items she ordered through H&M’s U.S. site had been cancelled, which she only found out by email the day after the purchase and apparently gone through.

Other shoppers have been tweeting their frustrations with H&M's delivery service and customer relations.

A representative for H&M said in a statement: "We are pleased to have received such an overwhelmingly positive response.

"The launch has created such an extremely high volume of traffic to our website. We are investigating any issues our customers may have so we can offer the best possible service and online shopping experience."

Currently on the UK site there are just two items left from the Isabel Marant range. And it's probably not the time to let you know that there are already pieces selling on eBay for widely marked-up prices, is it?
