Gwyneth Paltrow has said that even she can’t ‘have it all’, and she doesn’t mind admitting it, despite offering parenting advice on her personal website Goop.com.
The actress, 40, told Diane Von Furstenburg in an interview (conducted on the phone between Diane on a yacht in Corsica and Gwynie in New York) that she’s scaled down her work so she can spend more time with her two children, Apple, 8 and Moses, 6.
“I look for an interesting supporting part about once a year. That’s the most I can manage,” Gwyneth said in the interview for InStyle Magazine.
“Some women can do it and that’s fantastic, but I can’t. You make choices as a wife and mother, don’t you? You can’t have it all. I don’t care what it looks like.”

The actress, who is good friends with designer Diane, was happy to open up to her about her family and relationship, saying the easiest thing about her marriage to Chris Martin of Coldplay is their friendship.
“We laugh a lot – and at the same jokes. We like the same music and like to do the same things.”
And the hardest is their ‘artistic temperaments together’.
“Artists are sensitive; there are ups and downs, mood-wise. Musicians need a certain gravitas and focus in order to write. The temperament that goes with someone who is creative can be challenging.”
And as she’s interrupted by her daughter, she reveals a little of the strict alpha mum we’ve read so much about.
“She [Apple] is cross because I only let them watch TV in French or Spanish. When I’m in Paris, I go to Boulevard Beaumarchais and buy all their cartoons.”
And though she loves the idea of expanding the family, it seems her diaper days are over.
“My brain says, ‘Oh, I think I’m done, the kids are big now and I don’t want to go back to changing diapers’. But a part of me would love to have another. Of course, I’m old now!”
Diane also drew Gwyneth out on the subject of her strict diet and exercise regime, which she says has relaxed.
“I was very strict for a while. I was macrobiotic for a couple of years, then I got pregnant and just ate ice cream. What I’ve learnt is I want to enjoy my life and food is a big part of it. I love to cook and feed people. I cook every day.”
And even Hollywood stars indulge once in a while, though Gwyneth’s indulgence is more like our everyday lunch!
“My indulging is a fresh baguette with cheese and a glass of red wine, or French fries and fried zucchini. Or a turkey burger.”
