Random? Jedward and Zac Efron cruise on Cavalli's super yacht!
Can a celebrity's status be measured in time spent on yachts? Super-luxury sailing has become THE thing that cements A-list-ability faster than a private party at Chateau Marmont and receiving a designer handbag in 2012. Rihanna’s three week, five deck, fifteen staff, £750,000 holiday in the med is a good example – and you can see all of the details in this week’s issue. But one particular yacht is the mecca of boating legends. It changes colour, it’s moored in Cannes and it belongs to the ever-tanned ever-glaaamorous Roberto Cavalli. He ain't called Roberto ‘I am the party’ Cavalli for no reason… this yacht has seen more than its fair share of fun times.
Leopard print and the Cavalli crest cover the changing colour yacht!
We’re fascinated by the varied and eclectic passengers that hop aboard. Most recently (and you’d have to see it to believe it) Jedward. That’s right. Jedward. We're not sure if the fashion maestro is fond of their tag team dance routines, fantastic pop music or gravity defying hair, but somehow they got an invite.
Grazia's Emily Maddick aboard Cavalli's yacht with Rob Jr.
Captain Cavalli has also welcomed many (less surprising) others: Mariah Carey, Posh ‘n’ Becks, Mischa Barton, Janet Jackson, Eva Herizogova and Zac Efron to name but a few. Grazia’s News Editor, Emily Maddick, has also had the pleasure, sunning herself on Cavalli’s yacht with Rob Jnr earlier this year during Cannes Film Festival. So what is it really like? “Rob - my luncheon host, Roberto's youngest son who was lovely and had an exceptionally good selection of playlists on his i-Pod - told me that he thinks that someone has now copied the changing colour idea, but theirs was the first yacht in the world to use such technology,” Explains Emily. “In the bedrooms and on the sofas I spotted - and stroked - chinchilla and leopard throws. Real ones. Yikes! In the downstairs loo there were these cute little models of Cavalli's favourite ever frocks he's created on Barbie doll-esque mannequins. There are gold serpents everywhere, from the rails of the spiral staircase to the loo-roll holders. There is a special secret drawer in the main sitting room that is full of boxes of Cavalli branded cigarettes for his guests. Even the paper napkins have the Cavalli crest on them.” We wouldn't expect anything less!
