Four Weird (Non Food) Items You Should Keep In The Freezer
From cosmetics to clothes, there are some things that do better if you keep them in the cold
You thought your partner was losing the plot when you came home to find a pair of his jeans neatly folded in the freezer drawer - but no, actually he's onto something.
And it's not just your jeans that should be living in your freezer - some make-up, and even electricals belong in there too. Seriously!
Jeans
Rather than putting them in the washing machine to clean, it's better for the denim material of your jeans if you put them in the freezer. The cold will freshen the smell and kill any germs and bacteria - and you can use a damp cloth to get rid of any marks. Just pop them in a plastic freezer bag for a few days.
Lipstick
We're always told to replace our lipsticks after a few months beacuse of concerns about germs, but if you're not keen on shelling out on new lippies every few months, keep your regular one fresh by putting it in the freezer overnight to give it a disinfecting blast.
Batteries
Yes, really! Some types of battery lose their charge at room temperature (and lose it faster the warmer they are), so keeping them (in a watertight container) in the freezer can help them keep their charge longer.
NiMH (nickel–metal hydride) and nickel–cadmium (NiCad) - both types of rechargeable battery - can be put in the freezer to make them last longer.
Tights
As well as putting jeans and other soft items (such as pillows) in the freezer to kill off any germs, keeping your tights in the freezer helps prevent them laddering and makes them last longer.
