Fearne Cotton at the BAFTAs 2014: How to re-create her hair and make-up at home - EXCLUSIVE

She may have only been a presenter on the night – but she didn’t half steal the show at the BAFTAs 2014.

Radio 1's Fearne Cotton – who was hosting E!’s red carpet coverage of the awards ceremony alongside Dermot O’Leary – looked breathtaking in a gold sequined William Vintage gown and a gorgeous, modern beauty look.

The 32-year-old’s hair and make-up team went about creating a style that complemented her gorgeous, full-length metallic gown.

We spoke to Fearne’s glam squad – consisting of cruelty-free make-up artist Justine Jenkins and celebrity hair stylist Lisa Eastwood – about how they went about creating her red carpet look and the inspiration behind their choices.

“To compliment Fearne’s dress, I wanted her make up to have the feel of old school glamour with a modern twist,” said her make-up artist Justine Jenkins.

She made sure Fearne’s skin was heavily hydrated for her evening hosting at the Royal Opera House.

“As the weather can throw anything at you on BAFTA night and the make up needs to last, the skin needs to be hydrated and prepped,” said Justine.

“After a mini facial massage, I applied an eye mask and Murad's Radiance Peel Mask to freshen the skin, then Melvita's Rose Mask to hydrate.

“I then took time moisturising Fearne's skin using Dr Haushka's Rose Day cream.”

Once the Radio 1 DJ’s face was suitably moisturised for her cold night on the red carpet in London, Justine went about creating a solid base for her make-up.

She used Hourglass's Veil Mineral Primer and its Veil Fluid Foundation was set with Bare Minerals Mineral Veil powder on the T Zone.

She then moved onto the focal point of Fearne’s BAFTA make-up – the stunning copper eyeshadow that complemented her metallic gown beautifully.

“To help the eye make up last all night, I used Trish McEvoy eye base over the lid then placed Stila's Metals Foil Finish Eye Shadow in Comex Copper over her lid, into the socket and on the lower lash line,” said Justine.

“To define the eyes, I smudged Smashbox Waterproof Kohl eyeliner in Sumatra into the lash line.

“A generous application of Bare Minerals Lash Domination in Black, Smashbox Brow Tech to Go in Taupe to fill in brows, and Ardell individual lashes finished the eyes.”

Because the eyes were quite smokey, Justine decided to keep Fearne’s cheeks and lips quite soft.

“After dusting Fearne's cheeks with Trish McEvoy's Natural Rose Blush, I highlighted her cheekbones with the Illuminating Cream Palette,” she said.
 
“Lip liner helps lipstick to stay put so I used Smashbox Liner in Fair and Be Legendary Lipstick in Posy Pink, a pretty soft peachy rose colour.”

Fearne’s glamorous, 1940s style BAFTAs waves

Hair stylist Lisa Eastwood created Fearne’s big, bouncy curls on the red carpet – and she told us she wanted to create a modern 1940s hairstyle for her BAFTAs appearance.

“I used Kaze Wave Mousse by Shu Uemura mixed with the Shu Uemura Polishing Milk. They’re both beautiful products - very light and hydrating with a good amount of hold,” she told Yahoo Lifestyle.

“Once applied, I rough dried her hair and put it in a side parting. I then tonged it all over, pinned it up and left it to set for about 30 minutes.”

Lisa then brushed through the curls so they looked a little looser – before finishing with backcombing.

“I then took it out of the pins and brushed it through with a Mason and Pearson hairbrush to soften the curls and for a little back combing on the crown,” she said.

Lisa told us Fearne’s red carpet hairstyle was very simple to create so we’ll definitely be giving it a go at home!
