Mums admit their biggest cringe moments

Babies and children have little social finess, so it's hardly surprisng that being the mum of little ones can be an embarrassing affair - especially when trying to derail a temper tantrum in the supermarket

When children are very young they enjoy a blissful few years of ignorance where nothing can embarrass them, and they will happily say and do whatever they want, wherever and whenever. But for parents, it's this very time that they're most likely to be turned bright red by an awkward question from their little one in public or a tantrum in the frozen food section of the supermarket.

At the top of the list of these cringe moments mums deal with is the dreaded tantrum in public. This  was voted as the most embarrassing thing young children do by almost half of the mums polled in research by Lyclear.

This was closely followed by having your child tell an embarrassing truth to another adult and you child throwing up in public.

Mums also admitted that being called by the school to discuss their child's bad behviour was a cringe-worthy moment, as was your child going to the toilet in a swimming pool or pinching food at the supermarket by eating it before you get to the tills.

And as children get a little older, the asking of awkward questions comes up, the worst of which, mums rate, is 'how do you make babies?'.

The last two in the top 10 were being told by the school that your child is responsibly for a head lice outbreak in the school, and accidently locking yourself out of the car while your child is still inside.
