Diane Kruger steals the show at the Met Opera Season Opening in New York

Troy actress makes a statement in a striking monochrome dress with red accents

On a red carpet walked Heather Graham, Brook Sheilds and Micha Barton, Diane Kruger had her work cut out to out-style her fellow celebs.

But she managed just that in a magnificent dress designed by Prabal Gurung, who later joined her for photographs and to adjust the dress to his perfectionist standards.

The gown was a striking mix of a fitted bodice in white, with a delicate high neck, and wide, prom-style black skirt which showed a red lining. The two pieces of the dress were combined by a red cummerbund-style waist.

Diane also wore white Casadei for Prabal Gurung shoes, and Prabal Gurung for Chris Habana jewellery.

She went for a sleek beauty look, with her blond hair styled into a smart up do and fringe clipped to the side, over one ear. Her make up was natural with accented eyes and a barely-there rose tint on the lips.

The 37-year-old beau of Joshua Jackson had stiff style competition at the event from Coco Rocha, Brook Shields and Micha Barton.

Canadian model Rocha wore navy dress with abstract cuts at the shoulders and long sleeves by Greta Constantine.

Before the event she posted a photo of herself in the outfit on her Tumblr, saying: "So excited to be at the Metropolitan Opera for opening night! My dress is by my Canadian boys Greta Constantine."

Heather Graham also stood out from the sea of blacks, browns and creams in a turquoise dress with feathered fishtail. And actresses Brook Shields and Micha Barton failed to impress.
