Our skin is more than just a protective barrier. It’s the first thing we notice about each other, which is why imperfections on your face or elsewhere can seriously affect your self confidence. While most skin problems aren’t serious for health, they can have a major impact on morale. According to Dr. Steven R. Feldman, dermatologist at the Wake Forest University of Health Sciences in North Carolina: “Although facial lesions rarely affect the patient’s physical condition, the psychological implications almost always have an impact on general health.”

Numerous studies have actually demonstrated that skin conditions affect not only self confidence but also self image, altering social behaviour, daily activities and seriously damaging psychological wellbeing. Researchers have studied the effects of these skin problems on patients’ health, and concluded that their impact on quality of life is comparable with that of serious illnesses like diabetes and cancer.

While dermatological treatments are becoming increasingly effective at curing skin problems, the results aren’t always what patients hope for – which is why cosmetics and other non-medical solutions are so important for helping restore confidence.

A recent study* evaluated the positive effects of corrective makeup on patients’ quality of life. The researchers spent three months observing 73 women aged between 18 and 45 who suffer from vitiligo, other pigmentation disorders or angiomas. To assess the effects of Vichy Dermablend®, they filled out questionnaires after the first application, after 15 days, a month and then three months. The questions focused on how the women’s skin conditions affected their daily lives, as well as their social lives and personal relationships. The results obtained in the second week showed a significant improvement in all these aspects. It’s important to note that these improvements continued after a couple of months of using the product. This proved that it was more than just the novelty of a using a new cosmetic and that the makeup could genuinely improve quality of life long-term.

There’s no reason to let blemishes and little imperfections ruin your life! Corrective makeup is a real solution for all skin problems, and can help women get their confidence back, look great and stop hiding away.
