Controversial CrossFit weightlifter Lea-Ann Ellison has given birth to a healthy baby boy.
Exercise aficionado Lea-Ann hit the headlines after posting Facebook pictures of herself lifting heavy kettlebells above her head just two weeks before she was due.
Her son Skyler Ellison, who was two and a half weeks overdue, was born on November 7 weighing in at 7.3lbs but instead of taking it easy, Lea-Ann kept exercising until three days before giving birth.
On November 4, Lea-Ann posted a picture of her workout schedule at the gym following a snap of the view from the top of Runyon Canyon just a few days before – a popular but tough hiking destination in Los Angeles.
There was a serious backlash after the pictures of Lea-Ann’s pre-natal workouts went viral, with some labelling the images as “sickening” and “stupid”.
But the mother of three defended her decision, stating: “I strongly believe that pregnancy is not an illness, but a time to relish in your body's capabilities to kick a*s.”
The 35-year-old gave birth to Skyler at home in a water bath and both mother and baby are doing well.
In a series of status updates that are sure to court even more controversy, Lea-Ann informed her followers that not only is she just seven pounds away from her pre-pregnancy weight but that the haters “can KISS MY CROSSFIT A*S”.
