The cut-out trend has typically been on the fashion hot list for the young and lithe.
And with the likes of Twilight Saga Breaking Dawn Part 2 stars Kristen Stewart and Ashley Greene all wearing the look in the past week, you’d be forgiven for thinking it was a style reserved for twentysomethings.
Yet Diane Kruger and Christina Ricci last night proved that revealing a hint of midriff can be a classy look for those in their 30s too.
Both actresses stepped out on the red-carpet showing off their versions, wearing two different dresses that gave a sexy peek at their stomachs – without revealing too much.

Attending the GQ Men of the Year party, Diane, 36, opted for a white silk dress with a thin halterneck strap that joined her top and skirt together – teaming it with black accessories and a flash of red lipstick.
Meanwhile, over at the CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund Awards, Christina Ricci, 32, donned a shorter version in autumnal hues of black, burgundy and khaki that revealed her front while covering her hips.
The midriff-baring trend was clearly the must-have look of the night too, with actress Allison Williams stepping out in a baby-pink, structured shift that proved less really can be more.
With a crossover neck giving a glimpse of her shoulders, the US star teamed her outfit with lattice-strapped black sandals and a chic ‘updo.
Twilight actress Ashley Greene was back flashing the flesh at the Vogue event too, showing off her gym-honed stomach in a peekaboo lace top and trousers.
The cut-out trend has been on stylist’s radars since the summer, yet it wasn't until Gwyneth Paltrow were spied trying out the style last month that it surpassed stigma of simply being a young trend.
The actress' structured, cut-out black gown at an event in New York saw her racing up best dressed lists, with fashion critics applauding the star for showing just the right amount of flesh.
