Homeopathy is an alternative to clinical medicine, and uses the body’s natural healing process to soothe symptoms and solve medical problems. It is also used to maintain good health and ward off illnesses and chronic problems.
If you’ve ever rubbed arnica on a bruise or taken Echinacea to ward off a cold, you’ve already dabbled in homeopathic medicine, perhaps without realising it.
The British Homeopathic Association has called on some famous homeopathy fans for the Homeopathy Awareness Week, to reveal the natural cures they opt for.
TV personality Gaby Roslin attributes finally shifting her 18-month-old daughter’s cough to homeopathic medicine, after standard medicine didn’t do the job. “I use many complementary medicines and therapies and I believe they should be used alongside traditional medicine,” Gaby says.
And even sports personalities rely on it. Former professional tennis player Annabel Croft explains she uses homeopathy to treat day to day illnesses as well as sports injuries. “Taking a leaf out of their mother’s book, my children have even been known to lecture the school doctor on the benefits of homeopathy as opposed to traditional medicines such as antibiotics,” she says.
And British Olympic sprinter James Ellington uses is it to prevent sporting injuries. “Homeopathy offers me a positive and natural way to prevent sporting ailments such as exertion, muscular pain and aching joints, without any residual effects on my performance.”
