Eddie Murphy's model daughter Bria spills the means on the modelling industry

Bria Murphy admits pressure in the modelling industry leads girls to drugs, anorexia and eating cotton wool

Model Bria Murphy, whose dad is comedian Eddie Murphy, has revealed models really do eat cotton wool. She explained girls fill up on cotton to stave off the hunger pains that come from pressure to stay thin and 'perfect'.

Bria, 23, admitted she's felt the pressure to stay thin but that part of being a model is learning not to take criticism of your body and looks personally.

"It's your job [as a model] to go into a room… and some people will just say no without an explanation, and some will be like, 'Oh, your nose is too big. Your butt's too big. Oh, your legs are flabby.'

"Like, they'll just go on you, 'Oh, you need to tighten that up'."

In an interview with Good Morning America Bria agreed that there's 'a lot of pressure to be perfect' within the modelling industry.

She recently appeared on this years Rip the Runway. The annual celebration of fashion and music also featured Will Smith's son Jaden and Destiny's Child singer Kelly Rowland.

But behind the scenes, it seems the fashion world is as murky as we've heard in several recent tell-all books.

"Lots of girls get addicted to drugs and anorexia," she said. "I've heard of people eating the cotton balls with the orange juice … they dip it in the orange juice and then they eat the cotton balls to help them feel full."

She added that she hasn't been immune to the industry's influence: "I'm a small girl naturally, but I can gain weight. And I'm going through little hormonal changes and my body's changing and I'm like, 'Oh my God, I'm gaining weight this week, I'm losing weight next week'."

Bria is the eldest of Eddie' five children with ex-wife Nicole Mitchell and looks remarkably like her mum - also a model.

The face of haircare brand Dark and Lovely dreamed of following mother into modelling and still has aspirations to be a Victoria's Secret model.
