Nicole Scherzinger claims style win over Cheryl Cole

It seems anything Cheryl Cole can do, Nicole Scherzinger can do better.

Cheryl's replacement showed up to the latest US X Factor auditions in a very similar outfit to the one the Girls Aloud star wore a few weeks ago.

When making her US X Factor debut in May, Cheryl wore a bright orange top paired with purple trousers and turquoise belt. Unfortunately, her sartorial statement didn't go down well with the fashion critics. Despite stylists' attempts to help the Newcastle native adapt to her new surroundings, Cheryl's American fashion efforts were largely ridiculed.

That was only the beginning of the end for poor Cheryl. Cue former Pussycat Doll and sex-symbol-of-the-moment Nicole Scherzinger. She wowed the crowd waiting outside the auditions, successfully rocking a very similar orange and purple outfit; a colour combo that has proven popular with several other celebs, including Kim Kardashian and Jessica Alba.

Nicole managed to not only replace Cheryl's as X Factor judge but snapped her style icon status as well.

She made it work by showing off her shapely legs in a bodycon skirt and choosing a paler shade to in place of Cheryl's garish vest.

The 32-year-old performer also kept to a laid back hairstyle, avoiding Cheryl's big 'do. The infamous hairstyle was even mocked by Simon Cowell, who slated her locks saying: "Big? It was the equivalent of five gallons of hairspray and then standing in the middle of a hurricane."

Oh dear! Looks like another win for team Nicole.
