William and Kate attended the 10th annual Absolute Return for Kids (ARK) last night at Kensington Palace, where all eyes were on the newest addition to the Royal family.

The Royal couple were joined by 1,000 guests including high profile figures and celebrity faces for the gala that raises money disadvantaged kids in the UK and Africa.

For their first official public engagement, Kate chose a pale pink gown by British designer Jenny Packham. The nude gown with a high neckline looked elegant and shimmered to beautiful effect with all-over sequin detailing.

Staying true to her love for all things high street, she teamed her gown with matching pink heels from shoe shop L.K Bennett.

Although Jenny Packham is a well-established designer in the fashion industry - her slim cut gowns are a popular choice for Hollywood A-listers Angelina Jolie, Sandra Bullock and Sarah Jessica Parker - the impact of the 'Kate effect' is set to see her profile soar.

Last month Kate sparked a fashion frenzy when she wore a Reiss dress to meet President Barack Obama and wife Michelle. Fans crashed the Reiss website because they were so eager to snap up a piece of Kate's wardrobe before the dress sold out.

It emerged last week that Kate's impact on retail sales could save the high street, with the media dubbing her 'the real Queen of shops'.

Owner of the fashion chain benefiting from Kate's style choice, David Reiss, told the Express newspaper "The premium end of the clothing market will enjoy the strongest growth in sales over the next three years which will be a result of Catherine's growing influence."
