      Ordering a cappuccino after noon
You might think nothing of ordering this frothy, milky, cocoa-dusted coffee after lunch, but for some people, it just shouldn't be done. Particularly in Italy, it's thought that drinking such a milky drink after lunch will slow down your digestion system.

"You simply shouldn't have that amount of milk in your stomach after lunch in the same way you really shouldn't drink orange juice in the evening," Dylan Jones, editor of GQ magazine wrote in The Independent in 2010.

Cappuccinos are generally thought of as a breakfast drink. But let's face it: if you fancy one at two in the afternoon, no one's really going to stop you.

      Chorizo and seafood kebabs

      Choriza and seafood kebabs
You can use any firm fish or seafood for these — try scallops, prawns, pollack or whiting. Makes about 10 kebabs.

      Ingredients:
150g chorizo sausage, cut into fat discs
225g raw, shelled king prawns, defrosted if frozen
4 cod fillets, or other firm white fish
      10 cherry tomatoes
      Lemon wedges, to serve

      For the marinade:
      2-3 tbsp olive oil
      1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
      2 cloves garlic, chopped finely
      Salt and black pepper
      ½ tsp pimentón

      Method:

      1.    Soak 10 wooden skewers in water for about 10 minutes — weigh them down with a plate if they float.
      2.    Meanwhile, combine the ingredients for the marinade. Cut two of the cod fillets into 2cm chunks and toss them in the marinade, coating evenly. Set aside for 20-30 minutes. Cut the remaining two fillets into bite-sized pieces and place on a board.
      3.    Set your grill to high, and line a grill tray with foil. Thread a disc of chorizo

      Selfridges £85 wagyu beef sandwich
      Photo © Rex
In 2006, Selfridges launched a sandwich with a price tag of £85. It was developed by their executive chef Scott MacDonald, who insisted at the time that it wasn't a gimmick. He told the Guardian at the time of the launch: "I was invited to devise the best sandwich I could invent, money no object."

The sandwich contained foie gras, black truffles, unpasteurised Brie, red pepper and mustard confit, English plum tomatoes and rare wagyu beef from Japan, all squeezed between slices of sourdough bread.

The Guardian's verdict: "It tasted rich as in you wouldn't want any dinner after eating a whole one, and rich as in just as well because you couldn't afford dinner."
