Top 5: Easy Beauty Trends To Try Yourself

When it comes to Beauty trends, it’s fun to rave about wet look hair and purple lips but in reality, which trends are wearable for the every-girl?

More importantly, which trends can I do at home without the assistance of a team of professional makeup artists and hair stylists?

Fear not dear fashionistas! I’ve picked 10 great catwalks trends with a quick how-to for you to easily try the trend at home

THE HAIR

Bedhead Texture

Get that just-rolled-out-of-the-sheets relaxed cool by running a salt spray through your locks, or wearing hair in a messy bun while you sleep.

I like the Structure Beach Salt Spray by Joico and Bumble & Bumble Dryspun Finish for adding texture to straight hair.

Uber perfectionists and those with short hair can use a hot wand to curl random sections to create that tousled look.

For work, you can smarten up the textured look by pulling hair into a low ponytail at the base of your neck. Secure with an interesting hairtie like a fabric scrunchie or wrap a piece of hair around the band for a more put-together look!

A Strong Parting

Whether it’s left, right or centre, partings were all over the catwalk! They’re really fun to experiment and a parting will transform your look in seconds - they are super versatile too.

For example, you can team your centre parting with poker straight hair (as seen at Orla Kiely backstage!) for a clean and polished look. Use a frizz-preventing protection spray like Tresemme Keratin Smooth, and finish with a touch of L’Oreal Hair Oil.

Alternatively, try a relaxed centre parting as seen at Felder Felder - just add volume to the lengths using got2b Powder’ful Volumising Powder or a texture boosting dry shampoo like Batiste XXL Dry Shampoo.

Whichever way you choose, make sure you’ve got a great tail comb to help fix your parting – I like this Salon Style Tailcomb from Boots.

THE MAKEUP

A Perfect Base

Expensive-looking skin is on the agenda this year. Cashmere soft, with a glow from within, skin is primed to perfection, whilst still looking natural.

Say goodbye to your foundation – this is the year of the natural base. Use a primer instead, with a colour correcting base like Stila One Step Correct to even out any dark circles or red patches.

For the ultimate Instagram diffused skin, apply Burberry Sheer Glow Fluid Base all over the face, or mix in with your moisturiser. Ever since I got this for Christmas, I’ve used it EVERY day.

How to wear? Beautiful skin like this doesn’t need much - I like a couple coats of mascara and lots of lip balm.

No Makeup? No Thanks.

The natural makeup look was really hot on the catwalks - Kendall Jenner even did NO makeup at Marc Jacobs!! I’ll be honest, I might rock no makeup on a lazy Sunday but other than that, I’m leaving that one to Kendall!

Instead, why don’t you try the equally fuss-free, lived in makeup look? As seen at Topshop Unique, it’s really wearable and can be done within 5 minutes.

For just-kissed lips, use your finger to smudge TopShop Sheer Lips around your mouth for carefree soft edges. I also like the TopShop Lip Bullet if you want a bit more impact.

Rub the remaining colour from you finger onto your cheeks for a very subtle flush.

Negative Nails

Here’s a slightly trickier trend for you to nail (sorry, not sorry). Nail Art fans should try negative space nail art. Negative space is an art term where the blank space becomes part of the overall design.

To look after your hard work, I like to apply Nail HQ Hardener over finished designs. Although strictly for naked nails, I find that it prevents chips and protects my designs!
