Heres the scenario, you’ve spent ages sourcing the the party dress you searched everywhere for the perfect one, you watched tutorial after tutorial on youtube and spent the evening trying to master the art of contouring just for your special night out on the town. Your ready to head out feel amazing all dressed up to the nines - but whats that? Come 10pm your feet are killing you, your favourite songs are playing but all you want to do is sit down. Its a situation I’ve found myself all to familiar with over the years but alas there ARE ways to ensure your feet stay as party ready as you!

Tip 1

It sounds obvious but make sure your buying the right shoe size! Some stores vary in size, who knows why maybe its been altered slightly in the construction so try them before you buy them, walk around the store if you have to. If your toes are feeling trapped then size up, don’t do what I have a bad habit of doing and convince yourself that they’ll stretch, they never do. All that happens is you end up with some major blisters, not nice.

Tip 2

Now its taken me awhile to figure out just what kind of heel I’m most comfortable in. From giant stilettos to flatforms I’ve tried them all, I’ve managed to narrow down my choices to those I’d most defianatly avoid and those I know I can strut my disco stuff in.

Avoid - The bloggers favourite shoe, we all know the ones they’ve been all over our screens this year a thin ankle strap paired with a thin strap across your toes, yes they conjure up glamorous visions of having long super model legs but after an hour of walking In them I guarantee you that you won’t be feeling like one. They have zero support and force your foot to curve completely unnaturally causing a burning sensation at the balls of your feet. Podiatrist’s must recoil in horror just at the sight of them.

Block heels, I can happily dance for a whole night when I’m wearing any sort of block heel ones that are paired with a slight platform at the front to balance out the height of the heel cushion your foot and doesn’t force them to over curve, perfect for happy feet; here are a few I’ve been eyeing up for Christmas

From L - R: New Look Animal Sandals (£24.99) | Asos Green Heels (£50) | Windsor Smith Malibu Heels (£93.50)

To avoid cold toes pair with funky socks, glittery ones work perfectly for Christmas or even a pair of sheer black socks look great and are bang on trend.

Tip 3

There are so many affordable products on the market designed to relieve the pressure on your feet from wearing heels, from Scholl’s heel liners (£2.49) which work to protect the backs of your feet from rubbing and causing uncomfortable blisters to the god sends that are Party Feet (£4.99) which you hide underneath the balls of your feet to stop that night ruining uncomfotable foot burning sensation.

Tip 4

Wear them indoors as much as you can before the big night out, whilst your cooking or whilst your doing the hoovering this gives your shoes a chance to get accustomed to your foot shape and will stop you developing blisters on your night out. Another thing i like to do is try and wear them on some hard concrete then I can try and rough the soles up a little bit this will give them a bit of extra grip preventing any awkward falls when your out.
