Start by making sure your hair is free from tangles then spritz with a heat defence spray. Now it’s time to choose your weapon (or straighteners) of choice! There are many straighteners on the market at the moment but the Cloud Nine Wide Irons (£129.95 - Cloud Nine Hair) are just perfect for straightening unruly hair and getting super, sleek results as their wide plates come into contact with more hair with every pass, so you will find that your hair is straightens faster.

To decide what temperature to set your wide irons, you need to identify your hair type. If you have coarse/curly hair, you can use a setting up to 450 degrees but if you have fine then I would recommend using the low or medium settings to reduce the amount of damage you could do to your hair.

Starting at the roots, take small sections of hair and glide the straighteners down the shaft of your hair until you reach the ends.

Try to keep your straighteners in motion to prevent any damage – We don’t want this to happen - If you have coarse or very curly hair, you can use a setting up to 450 degrees. However, if your hair is fine, you shouldn’t go beyond 350 degrees (or it could damage your hair). Keep the iron in motion, as to prevent any damage or creasing. Continue ironing your hair until it is super straight and glass-like.

Before you reach for that hairspray and end this tutorial, you need to finish with the Aveda Brillant Anti Humectant Promade (£19 - Look Fantastic) or Giovanni 2chic Avocado & Olive Ultra Moist Oil Super Potion (£8.99 - Boots) as they are both an anti-humectant product aka a moisture blocker that repels moisture from your hair preventing your straightened hair from frizzing up.

Even though the UK is not really humid in the winter, remember that this is the party season so you are dealing with packed up trains, sweaty clubs and the occasional downpour (this is UK after all) so preventing measures need to be taken.
