Start by making sure your hair is smooth and free from tangles then spritz your mane with a heat defence spray. Heat protection sprays like John Frieda Frizz-Ease Heat Defence (£5.89 – Superdrug) will condition and rehydrate your strands as well as help to block out humidity, then grab your hair curler.

What curler you use is entirely up to you but do note that you will get more volume if you opt for a large curler like the Cloud Nine Waving Wand (£99 - Cloud Nine Hair).

Separate your hair into two horizontal sections, then section off a dramatic side part from the front section and tuck back the smaller side as well as the back section to curl later.

Treat your curling tong as if it is a wand and wrap small sections of your hair around it in a downward angle way from your dramatic parting as this will help your curls slid off the curling tong easier, making it almost hassle-free for you to secure the curl flat to your head with a 2 Prong Curl Clip (£7.39 - Sally Express).

A little trick we’ve picked up over the years to increase the volume in our hair, is to curl the majority of the front section away from the part on both sides but have a few curls on your hairline pointing towards your part. This ‘curl-counteraction’ tricks means you spend less time back combing and plumping your curls.

Once you have finished curling the front of your head with the majority of curls pointing ‘in’ towards your head, start curling the back section of your head. You don’t have to make each section perfect. A great way to make this style work is to create big curls at the back of your head and the frame them with smaller curls at the nape of your neck.

With your whole head now covered in pin curls, lightly spray it with Aussie Dual Personality Aussome Volume & Gloss Hairspray (RRP £4.99 via Superdrug - and wait approximately 15-20 minutes for the curls to set.

Once you feel that everything has set, gently take out all the curl clips and finger comb your hair to get a bit order into it and to place the curl strands where you want it. Once you are happy with the general placements of your curls, get a comb and gently comb out the curls to get into a shape or style that suits and frames your face.

And that’s your hair complete!
