Met Gala 2015: Amal Clooney Channels Dancing Girl Emoji – But Some Fans Aren’t Impressed With Her Choice Of Designer

George Clooney’s wife wore a Maison Margiela 'Artisanal' dress, custom-made for her by infamous fashion designer John Galliano…

We only had to take one look at Amal Clooney at the Met Gala 2015 and she shot straight to the top of our best-dressed list.

But a behind-the-scenes snap shared just before the red carpet revealed something very controversial about her choice of dress – notably, the designer who made it.

The snap, posted to Instagram by Vogue, shows the 37-year-old being fitted by none other than Maison Margiela’s Creative Director John Galliano - who infamously fell from fashion grace in 2011, after being found guilty of making anti-semitic remarks in a Parisian bar.

The then Creative Director of Dior was forced to leave the fashion house in disgrace after the allegations first surfaced, and ordered to pay a 6000 Euro fine. But Galliano made his return to the fashion industry last year, as Creative Director of Margiela.

So it seems like a rather odd choice for the acclaimed human rights barrister – and wife of actor-turned-activist George Clooney – to turn to such a controversial figure for her first ever Met Gala.

And it seems that some of Amal's fans weren’t impressed either, writing on Instagram that while the acclaimed barrister looked incredible, they still haven’t forgiven Galliano.

“still not sure if I have forgiven Galliano... I guess Vogue is more forgiving than I. Mrs Clooney is spectacular though [sic],” wrote one fan.

“Tragic day in fashion history!” wrote another.

However, some Amal fans saw the funny side, and likened the lawyer’s tulle layered and studded gown with the red dress dancing girl emoji!

What do you reckon? Should Amal have chosen a different designer, or should all be forgiven? Let us know in the comments below.
