BINTM's Emily forgets Rapunzel and shaves her head after a fairytale exit

The army cadet instructor who broke down at the thought of losing her locks on screen has since had a buzz cut

When we first met Emily Garner at the 'Britain and Ireland's Next Top Model' boot camp she insisted she was fearless and that she wouldn't care if the judges shaved her head.

But when the girls had their makeovers in the second week, already short-haired Emily broke down in tears at the prospect of having less than an inch taken off her pixie crop.

Now, after being the sixth girl to drop out of the BINTM running we find out the 18-year-old's shaved all her hair off!

But before we can even get to Emily's departure (and head shaving), we must talk cows.

Specifically, the dairy cows that the final nine models had to act alongside in this week's first challenge.

The girls looked less than impressed to find out the task would take place on a smelly farm and instead of hunky male models, this week their co-stars would be real live cows.

Tyson informed the ladies that this week they would be swapping couture gowns for rubber wellies as they shot an advert for the famous, "Make Mine Milk" campaign - complete with milk moustaches!

"I live in the countryside so I loved that challenge," admits Emily. "I was well and truly at home with the cows."

"Even though it was tricky, learning the lines and steering that cow around, it was loads of fun."

Emily's enthusiasm for the tough task wasn't shared by many of the girls - as Holly was squashed by the bovines, Emma forgot her lines and Lauren lost her cool completely.

Sophie came out on top as her natural charm and ease with acting impressed the client and saw her win the challenge.

Thankfully there was not a farm animal in sight for this week's photo shoot, which saw the nine hopefuls transformed into fairytale characters complete with elaborate wigs and impressive props.

Short-haired Emily could hardly believe it when it was revealed which mythical character she would be portraying - none other than Rapunzel.

"I thought it was very ironic!' she laughs, as her costume came complete with a huge plait that took two men to carry it.

"The braid was really heavy and massively long," she admits 'But it was quite cool - working the long hair and hanging off the spiral staircase."

Unfortunately the day didn't go that smoothly for all the girls as simmering tensions between Angel and Holly finally came to a head mere moments before the girls were due on set.

In the grudge match of the series, Angel 'cracked' at Holly who she accused of throwing her dirty looks and generally not being the nicest housemate to live with.

Holly fired back but the whole thing ended in tears, with both girls being separately consoled by Elle before the whole group were reprimanded by the head judge for unprofessional behaviour.

It all came down to the photos and despite starting strong back at boot camp, Emily's dwindling performance saw her leave the competition.

We asked her what those tears were all about, from a tough army girl who insisted she was afraid of nothing.

"When it came to the makeover I had been away from home for so long, I was stressed and I didn't have a lot of comfort," admits the part-time hairstylist.

"At that point, the thought of anyone trying to change me was really upsetting."

"But since the show I've shaved all my hair off - I just got a pair of clippers at work and did it."

"I needed a fresh start, a fresh makeover - and this time was my choice. I love it."

For Emily, modelling will have to take a backseat as she embarks upon a career as a newly qualified army cadet instructor but she'll miss the glitz of the competition.

"Life in the army isn't exactly glamorous," laughs Emily, "so it was nice to have your hair and make-up done every week."
