During these times of austerity you may not be able to splash out on a loved one this Valentine’s Day.

So supermarket chain ASDA have come to the rescue with their economy brand Valentine’s Day card to help customers save some money.

Located in the gift aisle amongst the £3-4 collection of teddies, cupid and "I Heart You" Valentine’s Day cards you will find ASDA’s smart value card for a penny pinching 7p.

The card reads:

Be My Valentine

The cheap card is available (with a red envelope) in the supermarket's 300 stores across the country.

Shoppers who have come across the bargain gift card have posted the good deal on money saving forums to spread the word.

One user commented: “Haha this is brilliant, I'd get one just to see the husbands face.”

Another added: “Yes, this really is a deal. A Valentine days card for real money savers and scrimpers.”

This leaves no excuses for a gift on the 14th February. You may not win any brownie points for your frugal attempt but remember it’s the thought that counts.
