Could this anti-wrinkle patch be the cheap solution to Botox?

Forget fancy face treatments, invasive lifts and fillers - a simple sticker claims to offer wrinkle reduction overnight

No need for face lifts, fillers and pricey facials, wrinkle-busting could be as easy as sticking a piece of tape on your forehead.

The new budget-friendly treatment is designed to smooth creases with a hypoallergenic tape that can be worn while you sleep. Which sounds a lot more fun that pumping poison under the skin.

Costing £28, the tape supposedly 're-educates' the skin by preventing it from moving. You stretch out the skin with your fingers when applying after cleansing.

But fixing something to the skin that's strong enough to prevent movement overnight doesn't sound like something that could be particularly gentle.

Robin Capstick, founder of the company Realine Beauty, which is sold at Fenwicks Bond Street, addressed this, saying: "I wanted to create a frown patch that was effective, easy to apply, and covered a large skin surface area.

"It was important that the adhesive was medically approved, and restricted muscle movement, whilst remaining kind to the skin."

In trials of the product, 84 per cent of volunteers felt their wrinkles improved with usage. But experts say this is nothing new. The patch does not contain any anti-ageing chemicals and works purely be restricting movement at night, when we commonly have a fairly blank expression anyway.

In fact it was a method used in 1889 when a product called 'Frownies' was created for the same reason.

Realline claims its patch is a non-invasive (not to mention much cheaper) at-home solution to anti-ageing. And if all we have to do is put a sticker on our head to look younger, we're up for trying it.
