How to get Kim Sears' hair

As Wimbledon champ Andy Murray's girlfriend Kim Sears' hair gets its own Twitter profile, experts from Daniel Galvin (where Kim's hairdresser Dwight Issacs trained) explain how to recreate her lovely locks

Kim Sears' hair has got its own Twitter. And it's hardly surprising given how obsessed we've become with Wimbledon champion Andy Murray and his lovely-locked girlfriend.

Poor Kim's hair has been through a lot in the past two weeks - serious sun exposure, humidity, stress - and yet as the BBC's (many) slow-mo shots of her tumbling tresses prove, it has withstood all the tests on the way to glory, without even dropping a set.

And of course we are all now coveting the artist's lightly ombre'd style. We asked top stylist James Galvin, Style Director at David Galvin (under whom Kim's stylist Dwight Issacs trained) how Kim's hair made it through Wimbledon and how we can recreate the winning look.

"The most important thing to do to get Kim's hair is focus on the THREE Cs. At Daniel Galvin, we put equal emphasis on the importance of good colour, a good cut and good condition," James explains.

"Kim has soft layers to gently, femininely frame the face and subtle coloured ombré ends. And it’s abundantly clear that Kim’s hair is in fantastic condition which is why it looks so fabulously glossy and bouncy at all times.

"To get hair this healthy I would recommend using a lightweight hair mask at least once a week, using a heat protective lotion or spray every time you dry or straighten your hair and using an argan oil to add moisture and deal with any split ends.

"Walnut oil is also fantastic for cleansing the scalp of excess dirt, sweat and dead skin cells.

"A good diet is also essential for maintaining healthy hair. I’d recommend eating lots of fish (Omega 3 is great for conditioning skin and hair) and, of course, fruit and vegetables."

With hair in great condition, it's all down to the styling. James recommends these five easy steps to get the perfect Kim Sears blow-dry:

1.  Apply a blow-dry product at the mid to the end of the hair, such as L’Oreal Pli, which will prepare the hair.

2.  Rough dry about 70 per cent of the hair but focus on the roots. Use your hands to lift and get tension on the roots of the hair.

3.  Section off the hair piece by piece and smooth from root to ends with a round brush.

4.  Start blow-drying the back of the head, and then move onto the sides. Finally dry the whole of the top of the head – the front couple of inches of your crown should be dried towards the back of your head.  No matter what parting you have it will fall more naturally.

5.   Blast the rest of the hair with cold air and apply a bit of hair spray.  Don’t go over the top though or you hair will lose the movement and go rigid.

Now we just have to find an ace tennis player boyfriend and pack our wardrobe full of Victoria Beckham dresses...
