11 Times Animals On Magazine Covers Totally Stole The Focus From The Celebrity

Miley struggled to keep on top of her pig recently, on the cover of Paper mag. But who have been our animal kingdom cover other stars?

Miley Cyrus graced the cover of Paper magazine this month with a rather charming companion in the form of a pig called Bubba Sue.

And even though Miley was FULL naked and caked in some sort of clay-like mud for the shoot, somehow it is still Bubba Sue who steals the focus, with her cute open-mouthed stare to the camera.

People are acting like this is some kind of big deal, but animals on fashion mag covers have been de rigueur for literally decades.

For the most part, the animals involved seem to fall into two distinct categories - either ferocious but somehow tamed by the human in the shot, or of the cute, baby variety.

So, for your viewing pleasure, here are some amazing animal cover stars, who totally pulled the focus from the celebrity in the shot.

It's not the first time that Miley has expressed an interest in appearing alongside her furry friends. She previously appeared on the cover of V magazine with a whole bunch of them. Sadly they were of the stuffed variety.

Of other recent magazines, i-D produced this cover featuring Cara Delevingne and a not so cuddly tarantula.

Ferocious or scary animals seem to be a bit of a high-fashion staple, as it happens. Couture brands have for a long time been obsessed with presenting taboos, the unexpected or taking people out of their comfort zones.

Here's Kate Moss with some kinda scary looking dogs for Allure magazine:

And okay, so it's nto strictly a magazine COVER, but this Rachel Weiss Bvlgari advert definitely illustrates the link between haute-couture and scary animals pretty well.

But, for the most part, the more ferocious of the critters are passed up in favour of the JUST DARN CUTE.

Baby animals (and cats, because cats are mostly cute) seem to make it onto the cover of magazines seriously often.

Case in point, Kate Upton with a baby monkey:
